Our History

My brothers, Rick and Scott, and I are third-generation owners of our family business, Becker Holding Corporation. My grandfather, Richard Becker, founded our company in 1952. What started as a 180-acre orange grove near Orlando grew to nearly 15,000 acres in Martin, St. Lucie, and Indian River counties.

In addition to growing citrus, Becker Holding Corp. also processed and packaged oranges and grapefruits—up to 12 million boxes a year. As boys, we grew up working in the groves, and as we got older, we were entrusted with the care and management of the business.

In 2002, as diseases began infecting our citrus groves, we explored alternative ways to use our most precious resources – our people and our land. Becker Tree Farm in Hobe Sound was born of that exploration.

We redeployed our resources into the Becker Tree Farm, and sought to make it an industry leader in the wholesale production and sales of ornamental trees and shrubbery, as well as in sustainable growing practices and environmental protections. Our team is dedicated to providing the highest quality plant material with uncompromised customer service to customers throughout Florida.

The Becker
Company

The Becker Company is also committed to minimizing impacts on the surrounding area’s rural character. Atlantic Fields’ lots fronting Bridge Road were developed with the specific intent to both maintain the idyllic character of Bridge Road and highlight the Hobe Sound Polo Club which frequently features the world’s top-ranked players.  Additionally, to support its commitment to accessibility for all, the Polo Club continues to hold weekly matches that are free and open to the public every Saturday from January through April.

The Company also teamed with Michael Jordan, helping in the creation of Grove XXIII—the legendary NBA star’s exclusive private golf club whose members are global leaders in business, sport and entertainment.
